Description:Laurie Records was a record label started in 1958 by Gene Schwartz and Allan I. Sussel. Sussel was a multi-millionaire whose earlier record company, Jamie Records, (named after his eldest daughter) had been unsuccessful. Joining forces with the creative talents of Gene Schwartz, the new label would be named after his other daughter, Laurie. An arranger and Schwartz's best friend, Elliot Greenberg would gain a 12% ownership of the company by the early 1960s. Schwartz's brother Bob Schwartz also became involved, primarily due to pressure from their mother to get his brother involved in the successful record business. The company had also grown to include a subsidiary: Andie Records
